New Delhi: Shri Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of NHPC Limited, visited the 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project located in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, on 1 December 2025 to assess the progress of construction activities.

The project, being developed by Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (Ratle HPCL)—a joint venture between NHPC and the Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC)—is one of the key hydropower initiatives aimed at boosting clean energy generation in the region.

During the site visit, Shri M.K. Kashyap, Chief Executive Officer of Ratle HPCL, briefed the CMD about the status of major civil works, hydro-mechanical installations, and electro-mechanical components. He also outlined the current challenges and critical issues impacting execution timelines.

Shri Ramesh Mukhiya, Managing Director of CVPPL (Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd.), along with senior officials from Ratle HPCL, accompanied the CMD during the review.

The Ratle project is expected to significantly enhance the hydropower capacity of Jammu & Kashmir and contribute to India’s renewable energy expansion under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
