NHPC commences commercial operation of 300 MW solar PV project in Rajasthan
NHPC Ltd, a state-owned hydropower PSU, has begun commercial operations of 107.14 MW at its 300 MW solar PV project in Karnisar, Bikaner, Rajasthan, effective April 12, 2025, marking a key step in diversifying its renewable energy portfolio.

State-owned Hydropower PSU, NHPC Ltd, has announced that it has commenced commercial operations of 107.14 megawatts (MW) at its 300 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Karnisar, Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Following successful trial runs on April 10, the partial commissioning will take effect on April 12, 2025. Amid the company seeks to add solar capacity to its core hydropower operations, this represents a significant step in NHPC's shift to a more diversified renewable energy portfolio.

The business notified stock exchanges that it will soon provide dates for the remaining capacity to go into commercial operation. It is anticipated that the Rajasthan solar project will help the Bikaner region's local economic development while advancing India's larger goals for renewable energy. The project intends to assist in lowering the nation's carbon emissions and is in line with the government's clean energy goals.

Hence, trial run of all 4 Units of 200 MW each is completed. Commercial Operation (COD) of Unit #1, Unit #2 & Unit #3 (each 200 MW) of Parbati-II HE Project (4x200 MW), Himachal Pradesh have already been declared from 00:00 hours on 01.04.2025.
Shares of NHPC Ltd were trading lower by 0.24% at Rs 84.20 at the time of closing bells.
