NTPC Rihand concludes Rihand Khel Mahotsav 2023 with spectacular Closing ceremony

Bijpur (19.12.2023): NTPC Rihand culminated the spectacular 7-day extravaganza of Rihand Khel Mahotsav 2023 with a grand ceremony held at the Sonshakti Stadium, showcasing a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and culture that encapsulated the essence of unity and sporting excellence. 

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gond, Honorable State Minister for Social Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Tribes, Uttar Pradesh, and distinguished guest Shri Maan Singh Gond, Block Chief of Myorpur. They were warmly welcomed by Project Head (Rihand) Shri Pankaj Mediratta, honoring their presence with traditional Angvastra and floral tributes.

The proceedings commenced with traditional rituals performed by the chief guest and attendees. Following this, students from NTPC premises' DAV, St. Joseph, and Kendriya Vidyalaya presented a cultural display, showcasing women empowerment, adding a vibrant touch to the event. 

Addressing the enthusiastic audience, Chief Guest Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gond commended NTPC Rihand's initiative in nurturing a sports culture in the surrounding regions. He emphasized the significance of such endeavours in motivating children and youth towards excelling in sports, further elevating the nation's name on national and international platforms. 

The highlight of the grand finale was the gripping culmination of several tournaments, including the Northern Region Football Tournament, Throwball competition for women, VSR Football Tournament, Rural Volleyball Tournament and Archery.  

Thrilling finals marked the Northern Region Football Tournament, with NTPC Shaktinagar clinching victory with a 2-1 win against Vindhyachal. Similarly, in the women's category, Twinkling Stars secured the championship in the Throwball competition, with Mighty Girls as runners-up.

The audience fervently cheered as St. Joseph School, Rihand, triumphed in the VSR Football Tournament against Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Vindhyaachal, securing the championship title. In the Rural Volleyball Tournament, Dumarchua emerged victorious in a spirited match against Dodhar, securing the top position. 

The event concluded on a high note, with the felicitation of winners and the distribution of participation awards, acknowledging the dedication and sportsmanship of all participants. Rihand Khel Mahotsav 2023 stands as a testament to NTPC Rihand's commitment to promoting sports culture and holistic community engagement, leaving an enduring mark in the hearts of all involved.
