Greening the Future: NTPC Rihand Participates in Vriksha Ropan Maha Abhiyan 2023

Bijpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a monumental effort towards environmental conservation, NTPC Rihand has taken part in the Vriksha Ropan Maha Abhiyan which was flagged off on Saturday 2023 under Uttar Pradesh’s Government "Ped Lagao Ped Bachao Vriksha Ropan Maha Abhiyan 2023," a campaign aiming to plant an astonishing 30 Crore trees on 22nd July, which shall be followed by an additional 5 Crore tree plantation on 15th August 2023. This grand endeavour marks a significant milestone in our commitment to protect and preserve Mother Nature for generations to come. 

As the world grapples with pressing environmental challenges, NTPC Rihand has taken up the mantle to combat deforestation and climate change head-on. By organizing this large-scale tree plantation drive, we aim to mitigate the adverse effects of carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity, and create a greener, cleaner, and healthier environment.

Shri. Sanjiv Kumar, CGM (Rihand) along with other GMs and senior members of Vartika Mahila Mandal Samiti inaugurated the event of the mass tree plantation, where NTPC employees, members of the ladies’ club, students, and representatives of the U.P. forest department participated in the event with great enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sanjiv Kumar CGM (Rihand) said that "We firmly believe that every individual and organization have a role to play in preserving our environment. This mass tree plantation a testament to our dedication to environmental conservation and marks our collective effort to combat climate change".

He further added that the tree plantation drive will not only contribute to a greener and healthier planet but also serve as a source of inspiration for people to take meaningful actions in their daily lives, such as reducing carbon footprints, embracing sustainable practices, and raising awareness about the importance of ecological preservation.

Distribution of fruit-bearing plant saplings among all employees and contract workers has also been organized on the occasion. This unprecedented effort will not only contribute significantly to carbon sequestration but also help in revitalizing ecosystems and conserving wildlife habitats.

Following the remarkable success of this event, NTPC Rihand will continue the momentum with a second phase of tree plantation, aiming to hold a massive tree plantation on 15th August. This step reinforces our steadfast commitment to sustainability and showcases the power of collective action in safeguarding our planet's invaluable resources.
