In a compelling drive to reinforce safety consciousness and build a culture of accountability, NTPC Vindhyachal organised a Mega Mass Pep Talk on 7th July 2025 for the MGR (Operation & Maintenance) workforce. The initiative was part of the ongoing safety sensitisation efforts aimed at achieving a zero-accident workplace and fostering a proactive safety mindset across all levels of operation.

The session was led by Shri Sanjib Kumar Saha, Head of Project (Vindhyachal), who inspired the workforce to embrace safety not just as a compliance requirement but as a daily commitment integral to each task. Setting a strong tone of resolve, the Safety Pledge was administered in Hindi by the HoP and Shri Rajsekhar Pala, GM (Operation), reinforcing every worker’s personal responsibility towards safety.

Shri Mukesh Kashyap, AGM (MGR), emphasised the critical role of MGR operations in ensuring smooth and hazard-free coal transportation, highlighting the need for strict adherence to established safety procedures. Shri Ashish Kumar Agarwal, AGM (Safety) highlighted real-life case studies to illustrate common risks associated with coal handling systems and discussed effective preventive strategies to mitigate such hazards.

Adding a unique dimension to the event, the medical team conducted an informative session on seasonal and occupational health concerns, equipping the workforce with practical tips to safeguard their physical well-being. To drive the message home in an engaging manner, a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) was staged by hospital staff, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees about the importance of safety in day-to-day operations.

As a gesture of recognition and motivation, 40 safety-conscious workers were felicitated by senior officials, reinforcing the belief that safety begins with each individual and is a collective responsibility. The Mega Mass Pep Talk stood out as a significant step towards deepening the safety culture at the station and strengthening the resolve of the workforce to work safely, responsibly, and with pride.

The session was attended by senior leadership including Shri A.J. Rajkumar, GM (O&M) and Dr. Pratima Mahendra, Sr Specialist & CMO In-charge (Vindhya Hospital), who collectively urged employees to remain vigilant, disciplined and united in promoting a safe working environment.
