ONGC Advances Operations to Cap Well Mori#5 – 9 January 2026

New Delhi, 9 January 2026: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has reported significant progress in its efforts to subdue and cap Well Mori#5, operated by PEC contractor Deep Industries Ltd., in line with the approved blowout control plan.

The company’s Crisis Management Team has successfully cleared most of the debris at the wellsite, allowing safe access to the wellhead. Key structural obstructions, including parts of the mast and associated equipment, have been removed, enabling operations to move closer to capping the well. All critical equipment and materials have been mobilized to the site to expedite the process.

To maintain safety, a continuous water blanket is being used around the wellhead. Officials confirmed that, under stabilized conditions, residents in nearby areas have resumed their daily routines.

ONGC emphasized that community safety and environmental protection remain the top priorities. All operations are being carried out in strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in close coordination with the local administration, reflecting the company’s commitment to professional crisis management and operational excellence.
