Railways bring initiatives for promoting Green and Economical Cement Logistics
New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has launched the rationalization of Freight for Bulk Cement in Tank Containers and policy for Bulk Cement Terminals at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, as part of revised Railway Reforms for Cement Transportation.
The Indian Railways’ new policy for Bulk Cement Terminals will reduce logistics costs and simplify cement transportation further. The rationalization of Freight for Bulk Cement in Tank Containers will ensure efficient end-to-end cement logistics.
The salient features include the simplified rate structure with removal of distance and weight slabs, flat rate of Rs 0.90 per tonne per km for actual distance to be levied. Further it will promote tank containers for efficient multi-modal end-to-end logistics of Bulk Cement and charges will be applied on the actual GTKM (Gross Tonne Kilometer) basis.
