REC Limited Moves Forward with New Subsidiary
Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). RECPDCL is itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited.

New Delhi, June 26, 2025. In a major step to strengthen India's renewable energy infrastructure, Maharatna PSU REC Limited has officially established a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited. This new entity, formed today, June 26, 2025, plays an important role in developing a key inter-state transmission project for integrating green energy.
Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). RECPDCL is itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited. This formation comes directly from a Gazette Notification from the Ministry of Power, dated March 27, 2025. This notification named RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for the large Ananthapuram-II REZ - Phase-II (3GW) integration project.

With an authorized and paid-up capital of Rs 5,00,000, the main goal of the new company is to set up the important Transmission System for the Integration of Ananthapuram-II REZ - Phase-II (3GW). Since this is a newly formed company, it has not yet started business operations and currently has no income.
Sources say that while Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited is related to REC Limited, its creation strictly follows the government mandate. There is no interest from promoters beyond their shareholding. A key point is that once a successful bidder is chosen through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) guidelines, Ananthapuram II Power Transmission Limited, along with all its assets and liabilities, will be handed over to that winning entity. This process shows REC's crucial role in supporting large-scale power infrastructure development.
