Mumbai. The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) has announced the purchase of two second-hand Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs) as part of its fleet expansion plan. The company signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on July 4, 2025, for the acquisition of these vessels, each capable of carrying about 82,000 CBM of cargo.

According to the official filing made under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, the VLGCs are expected to join SCI’s fleet during the current quarter of FY 2025-26. This acquisition aims to increase SCI’s tonnage capacity and strengthen its position in the global gas transportation market.

The event was recorded at 17:59 hours on July 4, 2025. The disclosure was signed by Smt. Swapnita Vikas Yadav, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of SCI.
