Snag hits power generation at NTPC Simhadri plant

VISAKHAPATNAM . Power generation at NTPC coal-fired Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station, Parawada was hit following a technical snag in third unit on Wednesday. 
 
NTPC has four units each with a capacity of 500 MW. Generation from second unit was stopped a couple of days ago. With third unit affected by suspected water leakage, the power plant is generating only 1,000 MW – half of its total capacity.
 
When contacted, an NTPC official said they were trying to restore normal production by both the units at the earliest.Simhadri has been suffering a lot due to raw material scarcity due to disruption in supply of coal from Odisha. The quality of coal was also stated to be of poor quality.The Hindu
