Bandhan Bank to Auction Rs 6,931 Cr NPA Portfolio

Bandhan Bank's board approves the sale of a Rs 6,931 crore written-off and NPA portfolio (EEB/ABG loans) via Swiss Challenge and auction routes to Asset Reconstruction Companies.

The loan portfolios belong to emerging entrepreneurs business (EEB). This includes group loans and small business and agriculture loans. It also involves the aspiring business group (ABG) of the bank.

The bank will bid using the Swiss Challenge method to sell an NPA portfolio that is more than 180 days past due. The principal amount outstanding is Rs 3,212.17 crore as of 30 September 2025.

Additionally, the bank will auction a written-off loan portfolio with a principal amount outstanding of Rs 3,719.14 crore as of 30 September 2025.

Bandhan Bank is a private sector bank with a distribution network of nearly 6,350 outlets. During the quarter, it added 9 lakh customers, bringing the total to over 3.23 crore customers. The bank employs over 73,500 people.

 

The bank's net profit fell 88.1% year-on-year to Rs 112 crore in Q2 FY26, down from Rs 937 crore in Q2 FY25. This decline is mainly due to a significant increase in provisions. Net total income dropped 11.5% year-on-year to Rs 3,135 crore, compared to Rs 3,543 crore in the same quarter last year.

The stock rose 0.33% and is currently trading at Rs 150.15 on the BSE.
