Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Lays Foundation Stone for Black Diamond Sports Stadium & Auditorium at Nagpur
Nagpur, Maharashtra – In a significant move to promote sports, culture, and community engagement, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal Shri G. Kishan Reddy virtually laid the foundation stone for the Black Diamond Sports Stadium & Auditorium at Kamptee Sub Area, Nagpur under Western Coalfields Limited (WCL).
The project, estimated at ₹5.05 crore, is designed to provide modern sports and community infrastructure for WCL employees, school children, and residents of nearby villages. The multi-purpose facility will host sports activities, cultural programs, and community events, further strengthening WCL’s commitment to local community development.
Prominent dignitaries at the occasion included Shri Sanoj Jha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Dr. Pankaj Jain, IAS, PS to the Hon’ble Minister of Coal, Shri B. Sairam, Chairman, CIL, and Shri Harish Duhan, CMD, WCL (Additional Charge) along with WCL Board members.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Reddy emphasized the importance of investing in sports and community infrastructure to empower local youth and foster community participation. The Black Diamond Sports Stadium & Auditorium is expected to become a hub for sports, cultural programs, and social activities in the region.
WCL’s initiative aligns with its ongoing efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development of the communities around its operational areas, highlighting the corporation’s role beyond coal mining.
The state-of-the-art facility is set to offer modern amenities including sports grounds, indoor sports facilities, and an auditorium for cultural and community events, creating a sustainable space for recreation, talent development, and community engagement in Nagpur.
