New Delhi, March 17, 2026 – The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved several significant appointments and tenure extensions across the Indian bureaucracy, covering top officials from the Indian Police Service, Indian Revenue Service, and various civil services. These decisions aim to strengthen governance and ensure continuity in key administrative positions.

Major Approvals by ACC

  1. Extension in Deputation Tenures

    • Shri S. Suresh, IPS (KL:95), ADG, SPG – Tenure extended from March 9, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with continuation of post upgradation to the level of ADG.

    • Shri Pramod Kumar Meherda, IAS (OR:97), Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare – Tenure extended for two years beyond September 2, 2026, up to September 2, 2028.

    • Shri Piyush Anand, IPS (UP:1991), Director General, NDRF – Tenure extended for one year beyond March 30, 2026, up to March 30, 2027, retaining the post at the DG level.

    • Shri Santosh Gopal Ajmera, IInfoS (2008), Joint Secretary, UPSC – Central deputation tenure extended for two years beyond February 25, 2026, up to February 25, 2028.

  2. New Appointments

    • Ms. Renuka Tripathi, IRPS (2010) – Appointed as Deputy Director (Director level) at the National Archives of India, Ministry of Culture, for five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.

    • Shri Subrat Das, IPoS (1991) – Appointed as Secretary, Department of Posts, succeeding Ms. Vandita Kaul on her superannuation.

    • Ms. Rubina Ali, CSS – Appointed as Joint Secretary & CEO, National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, on a lateral shift basis until December 31, 2026.

    • Shri Ajay Kumar, IAS (GJ:2006) – ACC waived the extended cooling-off condition for his premature repatriation from Gujarat, allowing him to resume duties in the parent cadre immediately.

These decisions were formally communicated through multiple Office Memorandums issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and Secretariat of the ACC, highlighting the government’s focus on maintaining stability in key administrative and law enforcement positions.

Officials and ministries involved have been instructed to ensure timely handover and joining formalities in accordance with ACC directives.
