New Delhi: Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the development of an aircraft manufacturing and aviation services ecosystem in India. The agreement marks an important step in India’s push to strengthen domestic aerospace capabilities.

The MoU focuses on potential collaboration in commercial aircraft manufacturing, including the possibility of setting up a final assembly line in India. The partners will also examine opportunities across the broader aviation value chain, such as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, supply chain development, and pilot training.

According to the companies, the partnership aims to support India’s growing demand for regional air connectivity while gradually increasing the level of local manufacturing and indigenisation. Any aircraft production in India would be followed by a phased localisation of components, systems and services.

Embraer is globally known for its regional aircraft used by airlines across multiple continents, while Adani Defence & Aerospace has been expanding its footprint in aviation, defence manufacturing and airport infrastructure. By combining engineering expertise with local industrial capabilities, the collaboration seeks to create a sustainable and competitive aviation manufacturing base in the country.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, reflecting the government’s emphasis on expanding domestic manufacturing and building globally integrated supply chains.

While specific details such as investment size, production timelines and location have not yet been finalised, both companies said further assessments will determine the next steps under the partnership.
