ONGC Hazira Organises Tree Plantation Drive at Umbhrat Village

Surat, July 6: ONGC Hazira Plant organised a tree plantation drive at the Shamshan Bhoomi in Umbhrat Village near the ONGC Valve Station on July 3, 2026, as part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026. The initiative aimed to increase green cover while preserving the peaceful surroundings of the community space.

More than 150 saplings were planted during the programme. The plantation included several tree species such as Neem, Coconut, Karanj, Champa, Asopalav, Bilipatra, Chiku, and Guava, chosen for their environmental and ecological benefits.

The drive saw active participation from the Village Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat members, local residents, and the ONGC CSR team. Together, they planted the saplings and highlighted the importance of protecting nature through community participation.

The initiative focused on improving the greenery around the Shamshan Bhoomi while supporting biodiversity and creating a cleaner and more pleasant environment. It also reflected the importance of protecting places of social and cultural significance through sustainable efforts.

ONGC said the plantation drive was not only about planting trees but also about encouraging people to take responsibility for protecting the environment. By involving the local community, the programme helped strengthen awareness about conservation and inspired collective action for a greener future.
