New Delhi: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), one of India's leading renewable energy companies and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, commissions its 72.5 MW captive project at Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan, developed for Tata Steel Limited (Tata Steel).

The project marks another significant milestone in India's clean energy journey by integrating large-scale solar generation with the latest technology solutions. The project is advancing Tata Steel’s decarbonization journey and strengthening TPREL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy capacity. The project is expected to generate 166 MUs of green energy annually and offset 118,856 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

The project deploys 171,360 modules for the Tata Steel project that have been manufactured by TP Solar Limited. TPREL has been serving a variety of sectors, which include utility requirements, data centers, communications, IT, petrochemicals, steel, automobiles, FMCG, and biotechnology, to name a few. TPREL continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio and reinforce its position as one of India's leading renewable energy companies.

The company remains committed to developing innovative clean energy solutions that contribute to India's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and Tata Power's vision of a sustainable energy future.

With the addition of this project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.3 GW. Out of this, around 7 GW is operational, including 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while close to 5.3 GW is under various stages of implementation, which includes 2.2 GW solar and 3.1 GW wind, which are expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 6-24 months.
