Time-of-day metering at homes unviable: Experts
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday received an official communication from Delhi government requesting it to look into the proposal for extending time-of-day metering in the domestic category. The government has proposed that TOD could be offered to domestic consumers with a minimum load of 50 kW as this could help towards reducing peak power demand. Experts, however, say it's not a viable proposal.
TOD is currently permitted only in the industrial and commercial categories with a minimum load of 100 kW. It was introduced in Delhi during the tariff announcement last year with a cap of 200 kW which was scaled down to 100 kW in the July tariff announcement. The Commission said it would examine the proposal and check the viability. Times of India .
