PESB Announces Vacancy for ONGC Chairman Post
New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), Government of India, has issued an advertisement for the post of Chairman of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
The vacancy will arise on 7 December 2026. The post is in the Schedule ‘A’ Maharatna CPSE category and carries a pay scale of ₹2,00,000 to ₹3,70,000 (IDA).

Role of Chairman
The Chairman is responsible for leading ONGC and ensuring overall performance and growth of the company. Key responsibilities include:

Expanding business through acquisitions and partnerships

Strengthening technology and innovation

Managing subsidiaries and joint ventures

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be between 45 to 59 years of age.
Candidates should be working in:

Central Government / CPSE / State PSUs / Private companies (large organizations), or

Senior leadership positions such as Board-level executives
They must also have:

Engineering / CA / Cost Accounting / MBA or equivalent qualification

At least 5 years of relevant experience in oil & gas, operations, finance, projects, or related sectors
Tenure
The appointment will be for 3 years, extendable up to 5 years based on performance.
