BEML enters into MoU with Goa Shipyard to drive innovation in Maritime Defence Sector
Defence PSU, BEML Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive innovation in maritime projects and composite technologies.
This collaboration is set to enhance India’s self-reliance in defence and shipbuilding, reinforcing the nation’s push toward technological advancement in critical sectors.
The MoU was formally exchanged between Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Ltd., and Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, CMD, GSL, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
By bringing together BEML’s engineering excellence and GSL’s shipbuilding expertise, the partnership is poised to unlock new opportunities in the maritime sector, fostering innovation and bolstering the nation’s defence preparedness.

The partnership will focus on advanced composite technologies, including the manufacturing of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) and composite assemblies for both defence and commercial applications.
It will also support the development of specialized equipment for Cutter Section Dredgers and Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers, expanding India’s indigenous manufacturing capabilities.
Additionally, BEML will utilize GSL’s Ship Lift facility and Dry Dock for the repair and overhaul of Yard Crafts, Tugs, and vessels from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Navy, strengthening the country’s maritime infrastructure.
