Coal India signs agreement for sustainable development of mines
Coal India partners with Heartfulness Institute to boost eco-restoration and social outreach in mining zones.

State-run Coal India Ltd has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Heartfulness Institute to drive sustainable development and community engagement across the mining regions.

The MoU was signed in presence of Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal & Mines; Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines; Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India, Chairman, Shri P.M. Prasad and Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak.

The agreement consists of key focus areas where collaboration includes rejuvenation of degraded ecosystems, development of eco-parks and rainforests, afforestation and creation of biodiversity forests, community-driven initiatives at closed, abandoned, and operational mines.

This partnership is a major step in the commitment of the PSU towards the environmental stewardship and social responsibility. In addition, the Coal India Ltd has boosted rail infrastructure expansion to Fast-Track Coal Transport.
