DMRC Signs MoU to Provide AFC System for Bhopal and Indore Metros
New Delhi/Bhopal: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) to provide a state-of-the-art Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for the upcoming Bhopal and Indore Metro projects.
Under the agreement, DMRC will design, supply, install, test, commission, and maintain the modern AFC system, leveraging its extensive experience in implementing advanced ticketing and fare management technologies across metro systems in India and abroad.
Boost to Smart Urban Mobility
The AFC system will enable seamless, secure, and contactless fare payment, supporting smart cards, QR-based ticketing, and future-ready digital payment integrations. This move is expected to significantly enhance passenger convenience while ensuring efficient revenue management for the two metro networks.
DMRC’s AFC solutions are widely regarded as among the most reliable and scalable in the country, having been successfully deployed in several metro rail projects beyond Delhi.
Strengthening Inter-State Collaboration
The collaboration reflects growing inter-state cooperation in urban transport development, with DMRC playing a key role as a technical and operational knowledge partner for emerging metro systems.
The implementation of a uniform and advanced AFC platform is also expected to help Bhopal and Indore Metros align with national standards for urban rail operations and passenger services.
