Delhi Metro to Start at 3 AM This Sunday for PNB Soldierathon Marathon
New Delhi, April 2, 2026 – The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that it will begin train services as early as 3:00 AM on Sunday, April 5, 2026. This special arrangement is designed to facilitate participants traveling to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the second edition of the PNB Soldierathon Marathon.
The early morning operations will be available on the Yellow, Blue, and Violet lines. Trains will run at a frequency of 30-minute intervals from 3:00 AM until 6:00 AM, after which the regular Sunday schedule will resume across the entire network.
Supporting a National Tribute
The PNB Soldierathon 2026, themed "Run With Soldiers, Run For Soldiers," coincides with Punjab National Bank’s 132nd Foundation Day celebrations. The event serves as a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and commemorates the success of Operation Sindoor.
To further support the cause, PNB has collaborated with DMRC to offer complimentary metro travel for participants. Runners wearing their official event bibs will be eligible for free to-and-fro travel on the morning of the race, ensuring seamless access for the 5:00 AM flag-off.
Operational Details for Commuters
The early services will cover several significant routes to ensure participants from across the NCR can reach the venue:
-
Yellow Line: Connecting Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre Gurugram.
-
Blue Line: Linking Dwarka Sector 21 to both Noida Electronic City and Vaishali.
-
Violet Line: Servicing the route from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh, which directly serves the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium station.
Regular metro services on all other lines will follow the standard Sunday timetable. Authorities have advised participants and early-morning commuters to verify line-specific timings before starting their journey.
The initiative is expected to reduce traffic congestion around the stadium and encourage the use of public transport for large-scale events. The marathon will feature multiple categories, including a 21.1 km Half Marathon, a 10 km run, and a 5 km run, bringing together citizens and armed forces personnel in a shared show of national pride and fitness.
