Indian Navy Signs MoUs with IIT Madras, IOCL, CSL, and MDL to Boost Marine Engineering Innovation
New Delhi, March 18, 2026: In a major step towards strengthening India’s maritime capabilities, the Indian Navy has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with IIT Madras, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL).
The agreements aim to foster collaboration in training, technology development, and field-level solutions for marine engineering. The MoUs will facilitate workshops, courses, technical visits, and joint research, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation between academia, shipyards, and the Indian Navy.
Rear Admiral Vikas Chawla, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refits), signed on behalf of the Indian Navy, alongside representatives from IIT Madras, IOCL, CSL, and MDL. The initiative reinforces India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, promoting indigenous solutions and technological self-reliance in naval operations.
