India Must Accelerate Coal Production to Achieve Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy

New Delhi, March 17, 2026 – Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, emphasized the importance of accelerating domestic coal production to achieve Aatmanirbhar Bharat during his keynote address at the Stakeholder Consultation on March 17, 2026.

Addressing industry leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders, the Minister highlighted the guiding mantra: Reform, Perform, Transform, and Inform (RPTI). He called for continuous reforms in exploration, auctions, clearances, operations, and finance to remove bottlenecks and strengthen coal supply chains.

Shri Reddy stressed that improving processes across the entire coal lifecycle—from mine development to closure—is critical for ensuring energy security and supporting industrial growth in India. He also underlined the importance of regular stakeholder consultations, noting that suggestions and feedback from industry participants will be actively considered to further strengthen the sector.

This proactive approach aims to streamline coal production, optimize mining operations, and align India’s energy strategy with the goals of self-reliance and sustainable growth.
