New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of key decisions involving senior appointments and extensions in the Ministry of Law & Justice, reinforcing the government’s administrative leadership structure.
1. Dr. Anju Rathi Rana Appointed Member Secretary, 23rd Law Commission of India
Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, ILS, currently serving as Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, has been appointed as Member Secretary of the 23rd Law Commission of India.
Her appointment will take effect from the date she assumes charge and will continue until the end of the Commission’s term or until further orders.
2. Tenure Extension for Dr. Rajiv Mani
The ACC has approved the extension of tenure of Dr. Rajiv Mani, ILS, Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice.
His tenure will now continue from 9 January 2026 to 31 July 2028, coinciding with his superannuation date or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

3. Additional Charge Assigned to Dr. Rajiv Mani
Upon the relieving of Dr. Anju Rathi Rana from her existing role, Dr. Rajiv Mani will also hold the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs.
He will continue in this dual capacity until a regular appointment is made or until further orders.
These appointments and extensions mark a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at ensuring continuity and efficiency in the government’s legal and legislative operations.
