New Delhi: NTPC Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Shri Bibhas Ghatak as the Head of Project, NTPC Korba, effective October 1, 2025. Before this, he served as the Chief General Manager (Operations & Maintenance) at NTPC Korba.
With an illustrious career spanning over 37 years, Shri Ghatak brings with him vast experience in power plant operations and maintenance, having held key leadership positions across NTPC’s flagship projects. His expertise in operations, maintenance, and project management has been pivotal in enhancing NTPC’s performance benchmarks across the sector.
Before assuming charge at Korba, Shri Ghatak successfully led operations as Head of O&M at NTPC Jhabua and NSPCL-Bhilai, where his leadership significantly strengthened plant performance and operational excellence.
An alumnus of Calcutta University, Shri Ghatak began his NTPC journey in 1988 as an Executive Trainee after completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Over the years, he has contributed to NTPC’s growth by serving in leadership roles at Singrauli, Jhajjar, Kahalgaon, Vindhyachal, PMI Noida, Jhabua, and Bhilai. His career has been marked by a focus on operational efficiency, sustainability, and team-driven excellence.
Committed to continuous learning, Shri Ghatak has undergone specialized training in safety, contract management, sustainability challenges, flue gas desulfurization (FGD), vigilance, radiographic film interpretation, and energy management. His comprehensive approach to operational excellence highlights his strong alignment with NTPC’s vision and values.
As Head of Project, NTPC Korba (2,600 MW), Shri Ghatak will spearhead operational and maintenance activities, with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, sustainability, and community engagement. Under his leadership, NTPC Korba is poised to further strengthen its position as one of the leading power-generating stations in the country.
NTPC Korba is confident that Shri Ghatak’s vision and expertise will drive the project to achieve new milestones, in line with NTPC’s mission of delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for the nation.
