Coal India Joins World Coal Association
CIL is committed to the sustainable use of coal and addressing climate change responsibly so as to ensure equitable energy for all said chairman.
New Delhi: Coal India Limited joins the World Coal Association (WCA). The WCA is committed to building a sustainable future for global coal and plays an active role in clean coal usage, technology and innovation.
Speaking at the Association’s first Board Meeting in India, Shri Pramod Agrawal, Chairman of Coal India said that Coal continues to play a pivotal role in India as it is the most dependable and affordable fuel. He added that CIL is committed to the sustainable use of coal and addressing climate change responsibly so as to ensure equitable energy for all.
Addressing the Board, Ms Michelle Manook, WCA CEO observed that 99 % of coal emissions can be eliminated through abatement technologies and processes which currently exist. Mr July Ndlovu, Chairman of WCA said Coal India is a global leader and as the world’s largest coal producer understands the coal ecosystem and the need to collaborate.
