New Delhi: Union Coal and Mines Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi on Thursday reviewed the coal production & despatch of largest coal producer, Coal India Limited & its subsidiary companies.
He emphasised infrastructural upkeep as part of monsoon preparedness in order to continue supplying coal to thermal power plants on priority.
Moreover in the first quarter of the current Financial Year Coal India Limited recorded a coal production of 159.8 Million Tonnes an increase of 29 percent, and supplies to the power sector grow by 19.8% to 153.2 Million Tonnes.
The Maharatna produces coal through seven of its wholly owned subsidiaries. These are Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Northern Coalfield Limited (NCL), and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL).
Its 8th wholly owned subsidiary Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL) provides exploration, planning and technical support to all the 7 production subsidiaries.
