 NLCIL Organizes Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 and Vigilance Awareness Walkathon at Neyveli
New Delhi: In line with the Fit India Movement launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in 2019 and under the guidance of Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Coal & Mines, NLC India organized the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 at Neyveli today. The 6th edition of the Run culminated on 31st October 2025, marking a spirited celebration of fitness, cleanliness and unity.
The event witnessed over 4,200 enthusiastic participants joining together to promote the spirit of a healthy lifestyle and physical well-being.
The Fit India Freedom Run, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aims to encourage citizens across the nation to integrate physical activity into their daily routines. In alignment with this National vision, NLCIL conducts the event annually as part of its sustained efforts to promote fitness, well-being, and social harmony among its employees and the larger Neyveli community.
This year’s event, themed “Swachchhta and Swasthya’ (Cleanliness and Health), was inaugurated by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, in the august presence of Director (Mines) & (P&P) – Additional Charge, and Deputy Inspector General, CISF. The theme underscored the interconnection between personal health and envioronmental cleanliness, emphasising holistic well-being.

Read Also : ONGC Director (Production) awarded with 'Bharat Fire Safety Leader of the Year – Oil & Gas (Upstream)'In his address, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, highlighted that, to attain the ambitious target of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, the youth – India’s greatest demographic advantage – must remain physically fit and mentally resilient to make India, the youngest country to the healthiest and fittest country in the globe. He further emphasized that, for NLCIL to reach its ambitious goal of tripling its capacity and ensuring a 7-fold increase in Renewable Energy, all stakeholders must embrace fitness as a way of life. “Health is the real wealth”, he reiterated, inspiring the gathering to make wellness an integral part of their daily routine.
As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, NLCIL also organised a Walkathon to promote awareness on integrity and anti-corruption, in conjunction with the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0. The event reinforced the organisation’s collective commitment to fostering a corruption-free culture under the Theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.”
The walkathon, flagged off by the CMD, NLCIL from Bharathi Stadium, featured a placard competition, where participants displayed creative and impactful messages on vigilance, ethics, and transparency.
The event concluded with participants signing the “Signature Wall”, symbolically reaffirming their pledge to uphold honesty and integrity in all aspects of life and work.

Over 2,200 students from 15 various schools, along with around 2,000 employees, contract workers, Indcoserve workers, and members of the general public, actively took part in the event reflecting the township’s vibrant community spirit.
The program concluded with words of appreciation for all participants, volunteers, and organizers whose enthusiastic involvement and teamwork ensured the resounding success of the events.
