ECIL’s Contribution for Aditya Mission

New Delhi: Communication with spacecraft plays a vital role in various space missions and Aditya L1 mission of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is no exception.

The antenna systems on the spacecraft and ground facilitate the communication. Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Government of India Enterprise under Department of Atomic Energy, is supporting Aditya mission by setting up the ground station antenna network for communication.

The indigenous 18-meter antenna set up by ECIL at Bylalu village at about 40kms distance from Bangaluru plays a significant role in the communication system of Aditya mission.

The Antenna System employs state-of-the-art technology to precisely point at the spacecraft orbiting around sun at about 15 lakh kilometers distance from earth for acquisition of data and videos. This earth station antenna is an integral part of Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) established for facilitating interplanetary communications.

The 32 meter Deep Space Network antenna supplied by ECIL earlier is also part of ISDN. In addition to them, ECIL also provided 11meter Antenna systems to ISRO for supporting the tracking, telemetry
