New Delhi: Ministry of Power, Government of India on March 8, 2022, released an office memorandum regarding the Setting up Power Foundation.
The Power Foundation is a society (registered under the societies act, 1860) formed under the aegis of Ministry of Power, Govt. of India and patronized by leading power sector CPSEs such as NTPC, POWERGRID, REC, PFC, NHPC, THDC, NEEPCO, and SJVN,
The chairperson of the Steering Council of the Foundation is the Hon'ble Minister for Power, New & Renewable Energy. Shri Sanjiv Nandan Sahai, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has been selected as the Director-General of the Foundation, by the Search cum Selection Committee formed in this regard.
Power Foundation aims to be the foremost policy advocacy body which would engage in national dialogues on power and alled sectors, providing authoritative analysis, data, policy recommendations, and real-world solutions to help states to provide secure and sustainable energy for all and to create smooth pathways for India's Energy Transition.
It also aims to undertake pioneering efforts in commissioning independent and evidence-based research studies, through credible institutions on various aspects concerning energy transition in the power sector and subsequently disseminate the gathered information through appropriate communication channels for creating awareness amongst the identified stakeholders
