Mundra Port and Garhi Harsaru ICD gets nod from DGFT for new vehicle imports
New Delhi: The government has confirmed under official notification that Mundra Port and Garhi Harsaru Inland Container Depot to the list of terminals through which the import of new vehicles is allowed. Consequently, the addition of two terminals has led to the number of ports and ICDs allowing to rise in new vehicle imports to 18.
The DGFT [Directorate General of Foreign Trade] has stated that the move intends to facilitate the import of new vehicles through these terminals. Mundra port and ICD Garhi Harsaru are being added to the list of 16 existing ports/ ICDs, accounting for the total number of ports/ ICDs to 18, for importing new vehicles as per DFGT.

ICDs are dry ports equipped for handling and temporarily storing containerized cargo as well as empty containers. It helps in providing port services to hinterland customers closer to their premises.
