The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC) has issued a tender for the selection of solar power generators for establishing 1.2 GW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connected solar power projects across India.
Interested parties must pay a tender fee of Rs 3,54,000 to NHPC Limited, with no exemptions allowed. Additionally, an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs 9,42,000 is mandatory, payable to NHPC Limited in Faridabad. The bid submission period is from June 19 to June 29, 2024, and the bid opening is scheduled for July 4, 2024.
The total capacity that can be offered should not surpass 600 MW without the greenshoe option and can go up to 1,200 MW for bidders utilizing the greenshoe option.

This project is in line with India's continuous efforts to increase renewable energy capacity and decrease reliance on traditional fossil fuels. Focusing on solar power, the initiative aims to make a substantial contribution to India's clean energy targets and strengthen its position as a global leader in adopting renewable energy.
The selection process is anticipated to attract competitive bids from leading solar energy firms eager to participate in the nation’s sustainable energy transition.
