NTPC Bongaigaon conducts vocational Training Program

Bongaigaon: NTPC Bongaigaon under its CSR CD activities today conducted a one day vocational Training Program for Mushroom Cultivation with the active support from Bodoland University for women self help groups in and around the NTPC station. 

Inaugurating the programme, Shri Subrarta Mandal, CGM, NTPC Bongaigaon said the prime objective of the program is to train and encourage women in the production of mushroom in their own house and sell the surplus produce of protein-rich mushroom in the local market, which in turn could supplement the family income. Shri Mandal added that NTPC Bongaigaon constantly strives to make the people in and around the station empowered and he highlighted that the programme will go a long way in making Salakati a model place for mushroom cultivation. 

Dr. Sandeep Das, Professor ,Bodoland University, Deptt of Biotechnology and Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Technology who conducted the day-long program with his team expressed satisfaction on the efforts of NTPC Bongaigaon. Prof. Das said that there is huge demand for mushrooms in the local market due to its organic method of cultivation and guided them various tips and techniques for the cultivation of medicinal mushrooms.  

This project aimed at imparting practical training to the 27 beneficiaries who registered for the day-long program. The programme was attended by Shri Ramakant Panda, GM (Maintenance), Shri Arunashis Das ,AGM (Projects),Shri A k.Chawla, AGM(HR),Shri Bhaskar Gupta, DGM(HR), Shri Sandhip Debbarma,Manager(CSR) along with other officials of the station.
