At its peak, 7 Million MT of coal will be produced from the Chatti-Bariatu mine, every year, and will be supplied to Barh Super Thermal Power Station and other power stations of NTPC.

New Delhi: NTPC Coal Mining Team has achieved another milestone on the 21st. May 2022 with the touching of coal in its 4th. coal mine, Chatti-Bariatu, located in Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand. Mining operations were commenced in this mine on the 25th. April, this year.

With this, excavation of Box-Cut has commenced, which will pave the way for the start of coal production in Chatti-Bariatu, the 4th. mine of NTPC, after Pakri Barwadih, Dulanga and Talaipalli mines.

Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC Limited, and Shri CK Mondol, Director (Commercial) have congratulated the entire NTPC Coal Mining Team for the achievement.

Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining), Shri Partha Mazumder was present on the occasion to motivate the Team NTPC. He congratulated the teams of NTPC and Rithwik-AMR, the Mine Developer-cum-Operaror. He expressed his sincere thanks to District and State administration, all villagers and the village leaders, other stakeholders, and NTPC senior management for this achievement. 

Shri Ajay Kumar, General Manager & Head of Chatti-Bariatu, Shri T.K. Konar, General Manager (TS-CMHQ), Shri Neeraj Jalota, General Manager (Kerandari), and other senior officials of NTPC Ltd. were present.

At its peak, 7 Million MT of coal will be produced from the Chatti-Bariatu mine, every year, and will be supplied to Barh Super Thermal Power Station and other power stations of NTPC. With the commencement of coal production from the Chatti-Bariatu mine, NTPC will add about 2 Million MT of coal in this FY to it's captive mine coal production kitty. NTPC have produced 14 Million Tonnes of coal in FY 2021-22 as compared to 11 Million MT produced during FY 20-21, thus registering a YoY growth of 27%.
