#NationalSportsDay: PM Modi Pays tribute to Major Dhyan Chand
National Sports Day, PM Narendra Modi pays tributes to Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary.
New Delhi: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today greeted the sportspersons on National Sports Day and also paid tributes to legendary Indian Hockey player Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary.
He was India's greatest field hockey players in history. His influence extended beyond these victories, as India won the field hockey event in seven out of eight Olympics from 1928 to 1964.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; "Greetings on National Sports Day and tributes to Major Dhyan Chand Ji on his birth anniversary.
The recent years have been great for sports. May this trend continue. May sports keep gaining popularity across India."
