In the quaint village of Dodhar, nestled within the scenic landscapes of Sonebhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, resides a woman who has become a driving force of change in her community. Meet Sangeeta Srivastava, a 45-year-old who migrated from Bihar to build a new life for herself and her family. Today, she stands as a beacon of resilience and empowerment, leading the way for her fellow villagers through her involvement with the Krishna Ajivika Self-Help Group, which is being run with the support of NTPC Rihand.
Sangeeta's journey began when she settled in Dodhar with her youngest son as his husband has left to a foreign land to earn livelihood. As a mother who was residing alone has faced various challenges, but her determination remained unyielding. With a vision of self-sustainability and community development, she joined the Krishna Ajivika Self-Help Group, a supportive initiative established by NTPC Rihand to empower local women.

Through this venture, she showcases her entrepreneurial skills and dedication to uplift her community along with 12 other women. The shop offers a variety of locally produced goods, including handicrafts, jute bags, rugs, homemade snacks, spices, pickles, providing a platform for the women of Dodhar to showcase their talents and earn a livelihood.
Despite facing initial challenges, Sangeeta's perseverance has transformed the shop into a thriving hub of economic activity. Not only does the shop generate income for the women involved, but it also contributes to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
