New Delhi, August 20, 2025: Shri Vepa Venkateswara Prasad, Executive Director, has superannuated after more than three decades of distinguished service from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC).

Starting as a Graduate Trainee in Drilling Services, he rose through the ranks to become the apex leader in ONGC’s drilling operations. From rig-floor operations to corporate leadership, his career embodies dedication and excellence, and is a journey is a remarkable story of grit, growth, and leadership.

A technocrat with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and advanced management credentials, Shri Prasad has worked across the length and breadth of the country, onshore, offshore, and in some of India’s most challenging basins.

Under his leadership, ONGC consistently achieved its annual drilling targets, overseeing operations across both Western and Eastern offshore shallow waters.

He championed technology adoption, cost optimisation, and HSE excellence, driving innovations such as Casing While Drilling (CWD), LWD, and system-driven efficiency improvements.

His coordinated efforts with stakeholders, including the Directorate General of Shipping, were instrumental in implementing MODU 89, delivering much-needed relief for the Indian drilling industry.

Known for his calm leadership, humility, and people-first approach, Shri Prasad has mentored and inspired generations of drilling professionals. A disciplinarian with a humane touch, he instilled resilience, pride, and discipline in his teams, leaving behind an enduring legacy.
