Hindustan Power Secures Major 150 MW Solar-Plus-Storage Contract from SECI
Hindustan Power bags a major SECI contract for a 150 MW solar-plus-300 MWh battery storage project, strengthening India’s renewable energy and grid stability efforts.

New Delhi, Nov 25. Hindustan Power, a leading energy producer in India, has announced a major contract win from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a solar and battery energy storage system project. The project involves a 150 MW contracted capacity as part of SECI's competitive bidding process.
The project aims to improve grid stability and support India's efforts to integrate renewable energy. Key technical details include the installation of about 300 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity and a robust 300 MWh BESS. This hybrid system is designed to provide a reliable, dispatchable power supply.
Hindustan Power won the bid under the ISTS-connected solar tender (ISTS-XX) with integrated battery storage, using a transparent tariff-based competitive bidding process that featured an e-reverse auction. This integrated solution allows for flexible deployment across various potential sites in India.
Ratul Puri, the Chairman of Hindustan Power, emphasized the project's strategic importance in meeting the nation's energy transition goals and managing peak demand effectively. The company's growing portfolio also includes other significant projects, such as a 435 MW solar facility in Uttar Pradesh and a 100 MW solar-plus-storage project in Assam.
This development highlights the increasing connection between solar generation and energy storage solutions in the Indian energy market. Such synergy is critical for achieving long-term sustainability and energy security goals.
