India’s 100 GW Solar PV milestone marks major milestone for indigenization capability
In a historic achievement, India has marked a biggest milestone of 100 GW in Solar PV module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) which is a remarkable leap from just 2.3 GW in 2014.
The achievement is a biggest milestone in the country’s rapid progress in building a self-reliant solar manufacturing ecosystem, in line with the Make in India vision and the global push for clean energy.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) introduced the ALMM Order on January 2, 2019, with the first list published on March 10, 2021, enlisting 8.2 GW of capacity.
The capacity has surged around twelvefold to 100 GW driven by 100 manufacturers operating 123 manufacturing units, up from 21 in 2021 in just over four years.
