Mumbai: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a prominent clean energy subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has officially commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project located in the Dharashiv district of Maharashtra.

The announcement was communicated through an exchange filing on July 3, 2026, submitted by Vispi S. Patel, Company Secretary of Tata Power, in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations. The power generated from this newly operational asset will be supplied directly to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, helping the utility meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets and advance urban clean energy transition.

 

Technical Specifications and Environmental Impact

The newly operational wind farm features high-efficiency technology designed to optimize regional wind corridors:

  • Turbine Technology: The facility is built using 28 SG 3.6-145 Wind Turbine Generators, which rely on advanced horizontal-axis wind turbine technology.

  • Annual Clean Generation: The asset is engineered to generate roughly 299 million units (kWh) of green electricity every year.

  • Carbon Offset Profile: By replacing conventional grid generation, the project will offset nearly 245 million kg of CO₂ emissions annually (calculated at a reduction rate of 0.82 kg of CO₂ per unit generated).

Expanding the Renewable Energy Portfolio

The commissioning of the Jewali project significantly boosts Tata Power’s green footprint across the country:

1. Cumulative Portfolio Milestones

With this addition, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has scaled up to 11.6 GW. The capacity is divided into operational assets and active pipelines:

  • Operational Portfolio (6.7 GW): Includes 5.4 GW of solar installations and 1.3 GW of wind energy projects.

  • Under-Construction Pipeline (4.9 GW): Consists of roughly 2.1 GW of solar, 2.6 GW of wind projects, and 0.2 GW of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), all set to deploy in phases over the next 6 to 24 months.

2. National Footprint

Beyond Maharashtra, TPREL’s wider 3.9 GW overall wind energy portfolio spans several key states at various development stages, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. This trajectory directly aligns with Tata Power's ultimate organizational goal of achieving 100% clean energy generation by 2045.
