AAI's Nagpur to implement satellite-based approach to improve flight operations
New Delhi: Airport Authority of India’s Nagpur airport will be implementing a Required Navigational Performance (RNP) satellite-based approach, which will improve flight operations, especially during monsoon.
RNP permits the operations of aircraft along a precise flight path with a high level of accuracy & ability to determine aircraft position with both accuracy & integrity.
Where poor visibility or ground-based nav aid is not available, it will bring down the visibility requirements. After RNP, the requirement will come down by 400m, w.r.t non-precession approach available at present.
A team of officers from AAI Headquarters led by Sh LD Mohanty, Jt. GM (ATM) took a training session for ATC officers at Nagpur Area Control Centre.
