Bharat Electronics Boosts Defence Leadership with Strategic Expansion

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, today announced continued strong business momentum and strategic advancements reinforcing its role as a key driver of India’s defence and technology capabilities.

The company has achieved a record Order Book exceeding ₹74,453 crore, offering long-term revenue visibility and demonstrating sustained customer confidence from the Indian Armed Forces and strategic sectors.

BEL reported a Profit After Tax of ₹2,255.26 crore for the first half of FY 2025-26, reflecting robust financial performance, operational efficiency and continued growth.

Strategic Growth and Technology Focus

BEL continues to invest 6%–7% of its annual turnover in Research & Development, with significant focus on next-generation technologies including:

  • Unmanned Aerial and Underwater Systems

  • Cyber Security and Quantum-secure Communication

  • Advanced Electronic Warfare and Surveillance Systems

Diversification and Export Growth

As part of its business expansion strategy, BEL aims to increase revenue contribution from non-defence areas to 15%–20% over the coming years. Key diversification initiatives include:

  • Railway signalling and metro communication systems

  • Homeland security and smart-city surveillance

  • Space electronics and satellite components

BEL is also strengthening its global footprint, targeting export growth across Asia, the Middle East and Africa through indigenously developed radar and communication systems.
