DVC Marks 79th Foundation Day with Sports, Cultural Events and Tree Plantation

Kolkata, July 2026: Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) celebrated its 79th Foundation Day with a series of sports, cultural and community activities across its various units. The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, students and their family members.

The programmes were organised at different DVC locations to mark the foundation day and encourage community participation.

Sports and Cultural Activities Across Units

At Chandrapura, the celebrations began with a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession), followed by a football match that saw active participation from employees and local teams.

At Koderma Thermal Power Station (KTPS), DVC organised a friendly cricket match for employees. A drawing competition was also held for nearly 140 children from the DVC township, providing young participants an opportunity to showcase their creativity.

At Bokaro Thermal Power Station (BTPS), an inter-school quiz competition and a football match were organised, bringing together students from nearby schools.

Meanwhile, Durgapur Thermal Power Station (DTPS) hosted a tree plantation programme as part of the foundation day celebrations, highlighting DVC's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Maithon Dam Illuminated

As part of the celebrations, DVC illuminated its buildings and the Maithon Dam, creating a festive atmosphere and marking the organisation's 79 years of service in the power and water resources sector.

The special lighting added to the significance of the occasion and reflected the corporation's rich legacy.
