ECL Announces 36-Hour SAP System Downtime Due to ERP Migration
Kolkata, December 19, 2025 — Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has announced a 36-hour shutdown of SAP ERP services across Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries due to the migration of SAP services from TCL Cloud to the SAP RISE Platform.
As per the official notice, the SAP downtime will commence at 6:00 PM on December 20, 2025, and continue until 6:00 AM on December 22, 2025. During this period, all SAP-based operations will remain suspended across ECL and other CIL subsidiaries.
ECL clarified that truck weighment and generation of GST invoices at road weighbridges, which are directly integrated with the SAP system, will not be possible during the downtime.
Advisory for Road Sale Consumers
All road sale consumers of ECL have been advised to plan the placement of their trucks accordingly and avoid scheduling operations during the SAP downtime to prevent operational disruptions.

The notice has been circulated to all concerned officials and departments and displayed at ECL Headquarters, Area Offices, Road Weighbridges, and Road Sale Depots for wider dissemination.
ECL expressed appreciation for the cooperation of stakeholders and stated that normal operations will resume once the SAP migration process is completed.
