EIL Officials Visit HRRL Refinery Following Dedication to the Nation
The leadership team of Engineers India Limited (EIL) visited the HRRL Refinery project at Pachpadra in Rajasthan following its dedication to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4, 2026.
The visit was led by Chairman and Managing Director Atul Gupta, along with Director (Finance) Sanjay Jindal, Director (Technical) Rajiv Agarwal and Director (Projects) Subhas Balakumar. During the visit, the senior officials reviewed the progress of the project and interacted with the site team.
The EIL delegation inspected key process units of the refinery, including the Main Control Room. Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and representatives of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), the project client, were also present during the review.
During the interaction, the EIL leadership encouraged the project team to continue using digital technologies and modern engineering tools to improve project execution. They stressed the importance of maintaining the current pace of work while ensuring high standards of quality, health, safety and environmental (HSE) practices.
The officials appreciated the efforts of the project team and urged them to complete the remaining work on schedule.
The HRRL Refinery is one of India's biggest energy infrastructure projects and marks the country's first grassroots integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex. The refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and a petrochemical production capacity of 2.4 MMTPA.
The project also features one of India's largest coke dome structures and has a petrochemical intensity of around 26%, making it one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the country.
Built with sustainability in mind, the refinery includes Zero Liquid Discharge systems and has been designed to achieve Quartile-1 Energy Efficiency, helping reduce environmental impact while improving operational performance.
The HRRL project is a joint effort of HPCL, the Government of Rajasthan and Engineers India Limited. It is expected to strengthen India's energy security, support industrial development and create new economic opportunities in the region.
With the refinery now dedicated to the nation, the focus will remain on completing the remaining works and ensuring smooth operations, reinforcing India's growing position in the global energy sector.
