Girl Empowerment Mission 2025 Workshop Kicks Off at NTPC Singrauli
To mark the inauguration, the GEM participants staged cultural performances and shared reflections on their experiences.

New Delhi: NTPC’s flagship “Mother Plant” at Singrauli inaugurated its annual summer?session Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) workshop to be held from 20 May to 18 June 2025 in a grand ceremony attended by senior leadership and distinguished guests.
The month?long residential program was inaugurated by Shri N.?S.?Rao, Regional Executive Director (North), alongside Smt. Vijaya?Rao, President, Uttara Club. Also present were Shri E.?Satya?Phani?Kumar, Executive Director (Vindhyachal); Shri Rajeev?Akotkar, Executive Director (Singrauli); Shri Anil?Shrivastava, Executive Director (Rihand) & other senior officials & dignitaries.
In his keynote address, Shri N.?S.?Rao congratulated the participants and their parents for their enthusiastic engagement with GEM 2025. He noted that since its launch in 2018, GEM has become one of NTPC’s flagship CSR initiatives, setting standards for girl?focused education and empowerment.

Shri Rao highlighted that GEM has consistently provided quality education to school?going girls from underprivileged communities around NTPC project sites, enabling many to continue their studies. These alumni often return as GEM brand ambassadors, inspiring the next generation. He also shared “GEM?2.0,” which will be an extension to the current curriculum.
He urged the participants to embrace every opportunity during the workshop—develop their hidden talents, work diligently, and emerge as role models for future generations.
In his welcome remarks, Shri Rajeev?Akotkar reiterated the vital role of women’s empowerment in community development and applauded NTPC Singrauli’s holistic CSR approach to uplifting rural schoolgirls. He added the workshop is getting encouraging response as every there is an increased number of participants.

Under this year’s Girl Empowerment Mission, 120 sixth?grade girls from neighbouring villages are receiving comprehensive, hands?on training.NTPC Singrauli is providing them with residential facilities, life?skills and personality?development sessions, sports coaching, self?defense workshops, arts and crafts instruction, and on?site medical support to nurture their all?round growth.
