IndianOil's Petrochemical Units Earn Global and National Recognition for Manufacturing Excellence and Sustainability
New Delhi, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to world-class manufacturing and sustainable operations, IndianOil has achieved two prestigious recognitions for its petrochemical business. While the HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) Unit at Panipat Naphtha Cracker (IndianOil’s 1st Refinery integrated Steam Cracker Complex) secured the First Position globally in the Hostalen Global Benchmarking Survey 2025, the Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) Unit (IndianOil’s 1st Petrochemical Unit) at Gujarat Refinery became the first refinery/petrochemical plant in India to receive the CII GreenCo Silver Certification.
The certificates were presented to Mr Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, by Mr Subhajit Sarkar, Executive Director (Operations) along with members of the Refineries Headquarters – Technical (Petrochemicals) team. Congratulating both units (Team PNC & Gujarat), Mr Arvind Kumar commended the team for its commitment to operational excellence, quality, and sustainability. He encouraged the teams to continue setting new benchmarks in manufacturing performance, reliability, and responsible operations.
Panipat HDPE Unit sets global benchmark
The HDPE Unit at Panipat Naphtha Cracker secured the No. 1 global ranking in the Hostalen Global Benchmarking Survey 2025, conducted by technology licensor LyondellBasell for Hostalen HDPE plants worldwide.The unit achieved a 100% score in both the Prime Grade Product Quality and Reliability categories, reflecting outstanding performance in manufacturing efficiency, process reliability and product quality. Significantly, this is the second consecutive year that the Panipat unit has earned the top global ranking, reaffirming IndianOil's sustained focus on operational excellence and world-class manufacturing standards. HDPE is a strong, tough polymer used for pipes, blow moulding and packaging etc.
Gujarat Refinery LAB Unit recognised for sustainability leadership
The LAB Unit at Gujarat Refinery was awarded the prestigious CII GreenCo Silver Certification, becoming the first refinery/petrochemical plant in India to receive this recognition. Conferred by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the GreenCo Certification recognises excellence in sustainable manufacturing through efficient resource utilisation, environmental stewardship, energy efficiency and adoption of green practices. The certification further strengthens the market credibility and competitiveness of IndianOil's LAB products while reaffirming the Corporation's commitment to sustainable industrial growth. LAB is a chemical used to make soaps and detergents.
These recognitions underscore IndianOil's continuous pursuit of operational excellence, technological leadership and sustainable manufacturing, strengthening its position among the world's leading integrated energy companies while contributing to India's growing global competitiveness in the petrochemical sector.
