Legacy of IndianOil: Powering India’s Growth with a Nation-First Spirit
New Delhi:
From the snow-clad peaks of Jammu & Kashmir to the southern shores of Kanyakumari, from the first rays of sunlight in Kibithu, Arunachal Pradesh, to the golden sands of Jaisalmer, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IndianOil) stands as the invisible force powering India’s daily life. More than an energy company, IndianOil is a national lifeline, connecting people, industries, and aspirations across the length and breadth of the country.
Ranked 127th on the Fortune Global 500, IndianOil is India’s top-ranked energy PSU and a trusted name across global energy corridors. Guided by its powerful ethos of “Nation-First”, IndianOil continues to fuel India’s journey towards a Viksit and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
A Legacy Built with the Nation
Since its inception in 1964, IndianOil has grown shoulder-to-shoulder with India, evolving with the country’s energy needs and economic ambitions. Today, it operates across the entire energy value chain — refining, pipelines, marketing, petrochemicals, gas, renewables, and emerging green fuels.
IndianOil owns and operates 10 group refineries with a combined capacity of 80.75 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and manages India’s largest cross-country pipeline network spanning over 20,000 km, transporting more than 100 million metric tonnes of petroleum products annually.
With a vast retail network of over 40,000 fuel stations and 63,000+ customer touchpoints, IndianOil serves more than 3 crore customers every day, refills 27 lakh LPG cylinders daily, and fuels 2,800+ flights each day at 130 airports.
Fuelling Growth with Purpose
IndianOil’s scale is matched by its sense of responsibility. As one of India’s largest customer-facing organisations, the company ensures uninterrupted energy access even in the most remote regions, operating round the clock with a singular focus — Nation First.
Its flagship LPG brand Indane reaches over 15 crore households, while initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana have helped usher clean cooking fuel into rural and economically weaker households, transforming lives and improving health outcomes.
Engineering Tomorrow: Innovation & Sustainability
Innovation lies at the heart of IndianOil’s transformation. The company is at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition, investing heavily in green hydrogen, biofuels, compressed biogas (CBG), ethanol blending, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and electric mobility.
IndianOil has committed to achieving Net-Zero operational emissions by 2046, aligning with India’s broader climate goals. As of March 2025:
-
E20 petrol is available at over 8,000 outlets
-
Ethanol 100 at more than 470 outlets
-
IndianOil operates 14,000+ EV charging stations, accounting for nearly 58% of India’s total
