MECL Begins Lignite Exploration in Rajasthan's Poonam ki Dhani
MECL has commenced exploration activities at the Poonam ki Dhani Lignite Block, located in the Barmer-Sanchor Basin, Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan.
This milestone is part of MECL’s ongoing mission to support India’s energy security through systematic and scientific lignite exploration.
Lignite, also known as brown coal, is a low-rank, combustible sedimentary rock widely used for thermal power generation. MECL is presently undertaking lignite exploration in both the Western basins (Barmer-Sanchor and Bikaner-Nagaur) and the Southern basin (Neyveli and adjoining regions)
